A/Prof Tim Roberts is Medical Director of Vision Eye Institute, Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Sydney Medical School and Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Royal North Shore Hospital, where he leads the glaucoma unit. He is a highly regarded cataract and glaucoma specialist, with clinical interests in the development and utilisation of new and innovative technologies in ophthalmology, medical ethics and education. A/Prof Roberts sits on several government, industry and professional advisory boards, and was awarded a Master of Medicine in glaucoma from the University of Sydney.

Dr Uday Bhatt is a general ophthalmologist with a special interest in anterior segment disorders. He specialises in premium cataract surgery, laser refractive surgery and the treatment of various corneal conditions, including keratoconus and the latest techniques in corneal transplantation and grafting, such as DSEK (endothelial graft) and lamellar surgery DALK (lamellar graft). In addition to his specialty areas, Dr Bhatt also performs eyelid surgery and treats a wide variety of ophthalmic conditions, including glaucoma. Dr Bhatt completed his ophthalmic training in the UK under a number of renowned clinical and research figures in the field of ophthalmology and has maintained his keen interest in research since moving to Australia. He is one of a handful of ophthalmic surgeons in Australia who has performed and published a Cochrane Systematic Review. He is a primary investigator in many cutting-edge research projects investigating new intraocular lens (IOL) technology, cataract surgery outcomes and glaucoma management. Dr Bhatt was the first surgeon to implant the Clareon IOL (Alcon) and PanOptix IOL (Alcon) in Australia, during the course of international trials.

Dr Devinder Chauhan is a retinal and macular ophthalmologist with over 20 years of experience. He treats all retinal conditions and has expertise in medical, laser, injection and surgical treatment options. Having undertaken his doctoral research in the field, Dr Chauhan is an expert in optical coherence tomography (OCT) for imaging of the retina. Dr Chauhan also routinely combines retinal operations with cataract surgery.

Dr Alex Ioannidis is a dual-fellowship-trained anterior segment surgeon. He is an expert in femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) and complex cataract surgery. He uses the latest in intraocular lens technology, including monofocal, toric and trifocal IOLs. Dr Ioannidis offers a number of innovative treatments, including corneal cross-linking for progressive keratoconus, and is a minimally invasive glaucoma surgeon (MIGS) with expertise in the iStent inject system for patients who have co-existing cataracts and glaucoma. He also has a particular interest in the diseases of the ocular surface and performs suture-less pterygium surgery. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK) and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS).

Dr Lewis Levitz is an accomplished cataract and lid surgeon. He is a sought-after speaker and has given multiple presentations at the Australian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. His topics have been diverse, including talks on the use of toric and multifocal lenses as well as on cystoid macular oedema. Dr Levitz is a reviewer for American Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Asia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology and the Australian journal Clinical & Experimental Ophthalmology. He was a guest lecturer at the inaugural LenSx users’ meeting and has spoken at each subsequent meeting. His virtual textbook on laser cataract surgery, one of the first textbooks regarding this topic, has been online for seven years. Dr Levitz completed his fellowship in oculoplastics in the UK.

Dr Lei Lui is a highly skilled surgeon with special interests in glaucoma, cataracts and general ophthalmology. She has over a decade of local and international experience, having trained and practised in Germany, the UK and Australia. Over the course of her career, Dr Liu has developed particular expertise in glaucoma filtration and drainage surgery, cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange, and combined procedures for both cataracts and glaucoma. Additionally, Dr Liu diagnoses and treats a range of more general eye conditions.

Dr Raj P Pathmaraj is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with significant experience treating a broad range of ophthalmic conditions, including dry eye, red eye and ocular surface diseases. Dr Pathmaraj is an expert cataract surgeon who uses the latest technology to offer his patients laser cataract surgery with toric and multifocal IOLs. He also specialises in the management of glaucoma, including selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) and the iStent inject procedure, as well as other optic nerve diseases. Dr Christolyn Raj completed her medical degree with honours from Sydney University prior to embarking on her ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. Her special interest areas are in retinal diseases as well as cataract and anterior segment. Dr Raj is a respected member of RANZCO and RANZCO’s Young Fellows group and an International Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She continues her research work in the area of diabetes as an affiliate of the Diabetic Retinopathy Laboratory at The Diabetes Institute and has recently co-authored a chapter in the Textbook of Vascular Medicine. Dr Raj is a RANZCO examiner for ophthalmology trainees and a senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne medical school. Her interest in education extends to the optometric realm, where she is involved both as an educator and examiner for the ACO ocular therapeutics course.

Dr Joe Reich is a highly experienced cataract and refractive surgeon, with a laser eye surgery practice dating back to 1991. With the evolution of laser eye technology, Dr Reich has maintained his expertise and now performs LASIK and ASLA/PRK. He also specialises in cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange and has extensive experience with multifocal and toric lenses. Dr Reich performs complex cataract surgery on patients with co-occurring eye diseases such as keratoconus, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.

Professor Rasik Vajpayee is a well-respected cataract and corneal ophthalmologist. He is an expert cataract surgeon, performing laser cataract surgery and complex cataract surgery. He has expertise in corneal surgery and corneal transplantation and was involved in the development of partial corneal transplantation techniques for keratoconus and other corneal conditions.
